Becky Brookman- Coordinator

Becky Brookman- Coordinator

Who are you and what do you do for Near Neighbours?

My name is Becky, and I am the Coordinator for the West of London. That covers 11 boroughs (Barnet, Brent, Camden, Westminster, Hammersmith, Ealing, Hounslow, Harrow, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Croydon!) and I help to develop local projects and create relationships between Near Neighbours in those areas.

What have you done in the past?

At the moment I am also a part time MA student at Heythrop College, University of London, studying Abrahamic Religions. Before I worked for Near Neighbours, I was the Volunteering and Social Action Manager at JLGB, a Jewish youth organisation. My time was spent making volunteering more accessible, fun, and rewarding for young people and charities alike!

Why did you want to work for Near Neighbours?

I came to Near Neighbours so that I could use my experience of coordinating social action projects to help create lasting relationships across faith and cultural boundaries. I am particularly passionate about seeing young people flourish and take the lead on their own social action initiatives.

Why do you love the area you work in?

My office is based at The Kings Centre in Southall, which is a hugely vibrant and diverse community in Ealing. The things I love about working here are the people – everyone is so warm – and, of course the truly world class local food!
