Being poor often leads to a lifetime of poverty

Research has shown that being born into a poor family significantly increase the likelihood of a person living their whole life in poverty. Our Poverty Lookup Tool has shown that, in England, those born into the wealthiest areas can expect to live for over twenty years longer than those born into poorer areas.

In 2013 the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission released their State of the Nation report to monitor and report on what is happening to child poverty and social mobility in our country.
