Poverty Sunday is a day set aside to reflect on the issues of poverty in England, and to raise funds for the empowerment of churches in their local communities. This year we’re encouraging you to get together for a Frugal Lunch.
It’s less than one month away!
We have gathered together some Frugal Lunch ideas from around the country to give you inspiration for your own event.
1. Frugal Picnic or BBQ
It’s summer! Gather your church together for a Poverty Sunday Frugal Picnic with leftover food.
2. Invite another Church
Make new friends on Poverty Sunday by inviting a neighbouring church along to your Frugal Lunch.
3. Invite a friend, or two
Encourage everyone in your church to invite their friends along to the Frugal Lunch.
This is a great way to meet new people who may not normally go to church.
4. Host a talk
5. Poverty Pilgrimage for Poverty Sunday
Together Canterbury are organising a 100 mile Poverty Pilgrimage across the Canterbury Diocese on bike to raise funds and awareness for Poverty Sunday.
Along the way they'll visit 11 community projects we support. You can join them in Canterbury or organise your own Poverty Pilgrimage.
