A Snapshot of the Advent Sleepout Challenge 2015

As you take down the Christmas decorations, throw out the tree and put the tinsel (yes, all the tinsel) back into storage we’d like to cheer you up with some good news about the Advent Sleepout Challenge!

We’ve put together a short film of some Advent Sleepout Challenges and the wonderful people involved which you can watch here...

A snapshot of Advent 2015

  • From youth groups to groups of friends, the Advent Sleepout Challenge brought people and communities together.
  • During Advent 2015 over 70 Sleepout Challenge events happened nationwide!
  • From individuals to groups of over 20!
  • You got creative with your sleep out names - from Team M&Ms to Bats in the Belfry…
  • Some of you chose to sleep in tents, others churches, there were even some who spent the night on garden benches!
  • Stables were constructed all over the country, like this one at St Nicholas Church in Lincoln

Norwich, Ely, Christchurch, and St Edmundsbury Cathedral all were host to sleepout challenges. At Norwich Cathedral the ‘sleepers’ spent the night in the cloisters!

Our Joint Ventures in the North East – Together Middlesbrough and Cleveland, Together Newcastle and Communities Together Durham – partnering with homeless charity DePaul, organised three separate sleepout challenges in:

We were so impressed by the young people of North Ormesby, Middlesbrough who raised almost £1,000 with a “onesie” day at the local primary school! The youth club also gave up their beds for the night and raised almost £800 in sponsorship!

Thank you
